Hey Upper East side-ers/Scottish people...

Is it me, or do the Gossip girl cast seem to dissappear when the show takes a break and then suddenley appear everywhere when it comes back on?
The latest sightings involve the long speculated/awaited on arrival of the Leighton Reebok ads...

She somehow makes them look girlier, though I still don't get the link between upper east side princess and hardcore gym workouts. Although that would explain how she gets that enviable figure...
I especially don't get it now they've thrown a ghetto blaster into the equation.
Hello Aguilera circa CAN'T HOLD US DOWN.

Elsewhere Ed Westwick has been representing Scotland (why?) at some kilt themed event in New York called Dressed to Kilt.

They do know just because he's from England he's not Scottish, right?
why oh why....

Diamonds are forever

If you're going to do leggings, you might as well do them right!
And let's face it, even these are the closest I am likely to get to diamonds in a while...

Living in a material world

There's nothing I love more than a magazine. The glossy finish, the (sometimes) nice paper, the colours, the images, heck even the smell.
None of my magazines are more coveted than Austrian publication Material Girl, of INDIE magazine production. If you read my blog you'll know this is right up there with the greats at the tippety top of my reading list.
After months of nail biting after the next issue didn't show up due to a botched delivery and numerous (very probably) annoying emails sent to R D Franks I finally received an email last week confirming they had the spring 2009 issue in.
Naturally the next time I was in central it was my first stop. I was not disappointed...

Paris, I love you.

I'm not a big deviant art fan. To be honest, I think it's the more embarassing younger sibling of flickr. Nevertheless, when I found this photographer, I couldn't help but post. The colours are insane! There is a real range of strong imagery whilst maintaining an all important signature style.

There's finally a video!

Mad Hatters Tea Party

So as we all know, at the Victoria and Albert museum in London there has been a hat exhibition through collaboration between the V&A and arguabley the world's most famous milliner, Stephen Jones.

Last night I took a trip over to the V&A to investigate further and to attend their 'Mad Hatters Tea Party'. I wasn't sure what to expect, and true to form the V&A went all out.

What really made the event was, as expected, the amazing hats...what was more amazing is that most people had made their own headwear! Really inspiring...

“It’s about being passionate about yourself, in a very positive way. It’s vanity but in reverse.”

The butterfly effect

I have been on an origami trip for a while now, and I've been thinking how to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Then, after leafing through an old issue of Lula, me and my friend got inspired and decided to invest in some card. Before you know it we had these cute butterflies in our hair!

Flowerbomb

It's getting warmer (okay, well you can ocassionally take off your coat on the walk into town), the sun is shining (when you get into Uni, following a long and trauma inducing walk in gale force winds and rain), which can mean only one thing: spring!
This photoshoot from Vogue Italia completely gets me in the spring time mood...

Who's that girl?

I've been very slow on this post. I've been so busy recently with Uni that when the chance came for me to actually purchase the new issue of Lula it had taken me a few trips to London to actually get my mitts on it.
Here are just a few of my personal highlights (well I wouldn't want to spoil it now would I...)
All I now need to complete my magazine dreams is the new Material Girl :D

Please excuse my dodgy photography, and appriciate no pictures do the real thing justice!

There are no words.

I don't even care that I'm insanely late on this, it's too amazing!

Coco Pops

I LOVE this spread, I just came across it again whilst looking through a folder on my laptop. It's from a Japanese magazine, but unfortunately I'm not fluent in Japanese and I can't find any more images of it on the web, so WHICH exactly is pretty much a mystery to me.

It totally just reminds me of that thought you have as a child that if you hold too many balloons you'll float off into the sky...dreamy.

The famous life

First there was XXXtina channeling Lady Gaga's look, now Nicole Richie seems to have adopted the disco stick loving pop star's persona. For this photoshoot at least.
And I have to admit, it looks good on her!
Even if she is wearing those gawdawful Louis Vuitton graffiti leggings...
She even does 'the' pose, you know which I mean!

Yeah, that one!

Studs dont always have to be scary!
I seriously need to keep my current crafty mood up and fashion myself some Sonia Rykiel Pearl Sunglasses. They were limited and individually numbered edition for Colette and even then they were US$950. Le ouch.
I'm SURE I saw them in an ad spread for the brand recently, but I can't seem to find the images online anywhere...

Let them eat cake

So what is special about these images, you may ask? They're just everyday objects, as much as I love/d pop tarts (they contain beef for some reason, not veggie friendly sadly...) they're not particularly groundbreaking.
Apart from, that is, until you realise that they're not photographs, but in fact paintings!
You want proof?

A tale of two sisters

Despite the fact that I am openly a magazine addict (it's all I buy besides day pass cards around London), I have yet to see any Rodarte ads.
Luckily for me (and my deminishing mulah) they have surfaced online, so I can lust after the Fall lines in their airbrushed glory from the comfort of my own home...

Fake Bake

I ♥ (that's love, not heart, by the way) Fake is digital bi-monthly magazine, currently on it's 12th issue. Unlike a lot of online magazines, Fake is refreshingly...well, readable! It combined the satirical humour of zines but without being too pretentious, and doesn't shove a million adverts down your throat in the process.

Doll Face

Move over trends and fads, the original it-girl is still reigning over fashion, one tiny plastic stiletto at a time. It's been very hard to miss Barbie's dominance over the fashion industry recently, from the New York barbie Fashion show...

...to the amazing 50th Birthday celebrations going on over at Colette, where designers and names have made their very own interpretations of the ever youthful 50 year old's style, not to mention the Barbie & Ken by Karl Lagerfeld exhibition which will occupy the store from 9th-28th March.
The clothing in particular is bringing back fond memories of hours glued to my Barbie 'fashion designer' computer game. How soon can I get the eurostar again...

Sugar rush

It seems I was sadly mistaken when I thought the Caviar bag was the closest Chanel came to culinary. Artist Massimo Gammacurta has turned some of the most iconic logos in fashion into a rainbow of lollipops.

Marc my words

If Marc Jacobs' Louis Vuitton Fall collection were a Pokemon, It would be Ditto. Basically what I'm saying is I've seen a LOT of this stuff in other shows. Luckily, Marc decided to imitate/mirror some really successful collections, making his show a veritable pick n mix of the fashon world. Either the designers are all on the same wavelengths or they are sharing alike in the economic crisis...

I couldn't help but see some familiar faces in the ensemble of Britney Spears in her new video for 'If you seek Amy'...

Emma Cook for Topshop ruffled shoes...

+ Rodarte s/s 09 lattice leggings...

Britney Spears!

Britney's stylist was so on top form, even if these pieces are just 'inspired by', though I definitely wasn't picturing Britney Spears to be the person to carry off the Rodarte lattice...

UPDATE: Further inspection/investigation led me to find the actual shoes...

Paper chase

Carl Kleiner's photography lies on the line somewhere between vivid colour and muted colour. They're both definately there, but the mix of the two creates a whole new palette altogether, in ghostly hues that are reminicent of foggy winter walks and melting ice cream. His work with paper is on a whole new level altogether, bringing life and personality to everyone's favourite piece of stationary. REALLY not helping my current obsession with trying to master origami....

Thigh-high, over the knee, whatever you call them there's no escaping the fact that boots are going sky-high on the Fall 09 runways...an encouraging thought for cold knees everywhere.

Full moon, half moon, crescent moon...TOTAL ECLIPSE

Oh Jaffa Cake :,)
In homage to these amazing nails from FORM, I decided to attempt what can only be descibed as a reverse manicure. This involves white moons and black nails, as seen below...
As you can see a steady hand and a lot of time to waste does work in favour of these babies, as they required 4/5 coats including a generous top coat to keep them in check. There was also a lot of waiting around involved for each section to dry before I could apply the next colour/layer. I'm just praying they don't chip straightaway...

Action shot!

Back to black

I'm slightly scared by and yet also completely loving Ann-Sofie Back's A/W 09 collection “Ann-Sofie Back burns in hell”. Even if I won't be sporting the Marylin Manson contact lenses anytime soon...

The Katy that got the cream

After a looong wait of what seemed like forever, the time finally rolled around for me and Vicky to redeem the Katy Perry tickets that had been festering in a box in my room and itching to be used.
We opted for the Friday date so we wouldn't have uni, which gave us and excuse to make a night of it and dine out in style. On a student budget this translates to pizza and peach iced tea, ohh yes my secret vice. Gutted they don't do it in massive 2 litre bottles like my usual tipples :(

After sighting a Chace Crawford come Ed Westwick esque waiter and discovering my hidden talent for photographing in an i-D style we left for Koko.
However, this meant crossing the treacherous path of Topshop on Oxford Street. Obviously we had to have a quick browse, only human after all. I picked up the 214 magazine which was actually released in conjunction with fashion week, but I never got chance to pick up due to my kerayyze schedule during that week.

We also clocked the Emma Cook shoes I've been lusting after since ever, but unfortunately bar the display pair at the front of the store they only had a black pair left in size 5. Bad times. Additionally I don't have £95 to spend on a singular pair of shoes, but a girl can still dream...Plus those babies are selling like hotcakes on ebay!
After sadly accepting our frilly shoe dreams would never be realised we hotfooted it over to Koko for the night's festivities where I was greeted at the door by being asked for ID. Seeing as how I've recently turned 19 I was slightly offended, but more annoyed at the fact I had been asked unexpectedly. If you know me you know that I always like to be prepared at the cash register with my cash/card poised, because if not I have to spend 10 minutes delving through the millions of cards I have somehow accumulated and I always have an identity crisis and a moment of doubt where I think I've forgotten my card. Needless to say I'm probably not the best customer to have in this instance.
After likely backing up a queue of tweens with said card delving we finally got in.

Fun ensued. 30h!3 supported and they had mega bass that made your face buzz and synchronised break down routines. At this point we were wedged in a corner but nevertheless at the front of the stage. Luckily the crowd was compromised mostly of short tweens so you could get a pretty decent view from anywhere.
Katy's show involved a giant cat with light up eyes, giant banana and strawberries, and inflatable lipstick. It looked a little something like this...

XXX!

You've got male

Men's fashion is not dead. Fact.
In actal fact, men's fashion is very much alive and kicking. No I'm not talking about house of holland's new collection...no matter how much Henry thinks guys look good in a million shades of slate grey...
Amidst the rumours Gareth Pugh will be taking over Dior Homme (how amazing would THAT be!?), Kris Van Assche showed understatement, and a look that I could imagine most boys, even 'unfashiony' ones getting into..

Gucci was a canvas of classic silhouettes and key pieces suich as suits with an unexpected pop of colour. And how much do I want to steal this jacket?!

Costume national have got a fusion that is just the right amount of casual and sleek. Hi Cole.

Let's discuss how much Gianfranco Ferré is making me want to invest in a scarf of massive proportions...

And my absolute favourite, Burberry prorsum. So utterly English.
