I'm really liking schooly satchels at the moment. Maybe it's a nod to the fact that I'm going into my second year of Uni and I'm reminiscing the 'back to school' days, trucking off to school loaded up with new pens and uniforms...
This week... beginning with what could be my favourite olsen picture ever...
'A typical part of Swedish culture, Jantelagen: the Jante Law. This Scandinavian concept means that you should never appear better than anyone else or think you are better than anyone. This seems to be why Swedes seem quite shy and reserved, because they don't want to talk about themselves or big themselves up.'

I saw this film on the blog of one of my favourite commenter's blogsbohemian bisoux, but felt it HAD to be posted, it's practically a public service announcement! I have made this mistake with MANY names in the past...
'I really like this designer's collection......umh........'
The many highlights of this video include: Alexander Wang with a girl draped over him like a scarf (sorry, I don't know her! GUILTY. Anyone enlighten me?), P Diddy getting increasingly excited/manic as the promo continues (end of a long day perhaps?), and Isaac Mizrahi's hands when he says 'let's make shopping FUN again'. But my favourite part has to be Coco Rocha because she's so darn amazing and peppy.
And obviously because they are telling you, quote: 'the ENTIRE industry is counting on YOU..' which is basically an amazing excuse to spend, yes? The event will be held in London September the 10th as well as in 12 othe rmajor cities...
So I haven't read the Twilight books DON'T KILL ME. I enjoy the films as much as the next person, mostly because they are so funny they can reduce me to dazzle related tears of amusement (and I can't hate on that), but I haven't got the Twilight commitment in me to immerse myself in the books. Despite this I have unintentionally managed to find out bits of the future plotline, namely there's a wedding and a baby.
Naturally designers are looking to get a slice of the twi-pie, and have designed what they think Bella should be wearing... My vote is with Erin Fetherston.
The designers who contributed are Monique L'Hullier, Erin Fetherston, Bryan Reyes, Max Azria, Prabal Gurung, Lela Rose, Christian Siriano, Badgley Mischka, and Zac Posen.
And while we're on the subject, when did these come to exist? Firstly I thought the Henry Holland knockoff died with the nu-rave 'movement' (if you can even call it that, it makes me cringe a bit even saying it...). However the person who decided to combine Henry Holland with Justin Timberlake and Twilight is either clinically insane or a comedic genius. Maybe a bit of both? I don't really get the 'bun in my oven' rhyme but I guess spawn of Dracula dazzler doesn't quite have the same ring to it...
Continuing with what seems to be the theme, how much do I need this for 'back to uni'...

In other skull related news, I went to Brighton this Sunday where there was a a shop that (among other amazing feats such as lilac chocolate cats and amazingly elaborate cake) made bespoke chocolate skulls. I had my eye on the one wearing a milk chocolate top hat...
Did you ever read those magazines when you were younger? You know the ones, like MIZZ. One of my favourite parts was the flow chart esque quizes that told you stuff like what shoe you were and what make up represented your personality. A while ago Refinery 29 created the amazing how to get shot by the satorialist, and now they're back with the It girl quiz. Unfortunately I didn't have what it takes...
This week I went to see the Coco Chanel movie. It was showing at a lot less cinemas than I expected seeing as how you couldnt turn anywhere in London without Audrey Tatou slapping you in the face for the past couple of months. Nevertheless it was amazing. I can't wait to see so many films coming out, especially the designer related ones- I NEED to see The September Issue and what the Wintour is really like behind closed doors/the sunglasses. As usual I have managed to dominate the post with food images...enjoy.

I was going to include this in my scrapbook post tomorrow, but when it came down to it I couldn't pick just one image. Model: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Photographer: Greg Williams
I don't have many memories of Barneys from when I was in New York. To be quite honest, whenever I was in those massive department stores I was usually just trying as hard as possible to avoid the sales people diving on me like vultures on a carcass, but less meat more Chanel perfume. I never really shopped there and certainly wasn't browsing jeans or thinking the store was particularly innovative.
That said, Barneys have released a catalogue for their new denimwear entitled 'denim co-op catalogue'. It's available to view online here! (am I the only one who misses having hard copies of these things..?!), and I really like it.
We're talking Cole Mohr, Ash stymest, Eniko Mihalik, Hanne Gaby Odiele, Ranya Mordanova, Tao Okamoto, rainbow and candyfloss hair and making jeans look less..well, boring. How can you say no?
When most people think Juicy Couture, they think pink tracksuits, slogans emblazoned across the posterior and teeney dogs. While this may be true, Juicy Couture also brings it in the campaign department. Their f/w 09 spreads are no different. Sticking with the formula of Lisa Cant and Tim Walker that has made for some stunning images in the past does not disappoint.
Excuse the box in the corner, it's a screen grab from the site as it seems to be the only place where the images are any level of high quality.
The new spreads focus on 'doing the don'ts' which I guess is kind of like the 7 deadly sins but in a more light hearted way. The campaign is also centred around the launch of their new fragrance 'Couture Couture' (seen in the first image). I like how Juicy Couture always goes to town with their bottles, even when they're empty they look pretty.
Yes everyone loves this Australian Vogue September 09 spread. And with good reason. But Abbey Lee Kershaw is no one hit wonder. And she's totally reinforcing my love for the nose ring.
So cute! Love the jewellery and the photos. Although the glamour is taken away slightly when the camera pans out...haha.
Kelly looks great in these pictures. I've always kind of liked Kelly Osbourne, even in the 'papa don't preach' days. Maybe it's her genuine I-don't-care-what-you-think attitude (she carries it off without seeming as bratty as others such as Lily Allen). Maybe it's the fact that she wears what she wants, how she wants and when she wants. Heck, maybe it's the fact she scored Luke Worrall. P.S THEY GO SHOPPING AT CHANEL TOGETHER. MHMMM.
Although it's only August, summer feels like a distant memeory. A VERY distant memory. So it's a good thing that Camilla Åkrans takes us to Hawaii through a flurry of sun-bleached colours and wind-whipped fabrics. No sunblock or passport required.
Theres something different about this spread. Yes, Anna Selezneva looks amazing. But looking at these images you can feel the sun on your skin, the salt water in your hair and hear the palms swaying in the breeze.
