Wildfox/Lna/Disney Couture/Disaya Sample Sale

So Friday night I got word about a sample sale in London involving Wildfox, LNA, Disaya and Disney Couture. How fast can you say I'M THERE?!

After a loooong and packed bus ride (it drove straight past Wireless festival) I found Whiteleys.
When I was looking for the shop, I came across a shop under the same 'Pop Store' organisation, which stocked Wildfox. I was a bit confused when I started browsing to find all the stock seemed to be full price. It turned out apparantly the 'Pop Store' have a shop there full time, and then the one where the sale was being held was a temporary shop.

So I set off further into the shopping centre and found the correct place for a change! Surprisingly considering the popularity of the brands in the sale there was a couple of people drifting between rails, but nowhere near as packed as I'd expected. Not that I'm complaining! Because this gave me lots of time to browse and actually consider my purchases, a rarity in sample sales which normally are set up so you grab everything before everyone else does and hope for the best!

Twiggy, ring pops, pumpkins

I just finished interning for Beyond the Valley Insight, the promotions sister company to the Carnaby Street store. I've helped out on a couple on events, based around their 'Wish you were here' concept. This basically was where shops form the London Carnaby Street area swapped with shops from New York, and vice versa.

This equalled a lot of fun and of course American food.

My final day was spent preparing for the Halloween party a.k.a a good excuse to get pumpkin carving. If only I'd realised I only got one attempt I wouldn't have made my pumpkin look like it has manic depression...





In one of the two shops set up, there was a gallery space in the basement. They had some really cool stuff, my favourite of which was a giant dripping heart made from ring pops. It smelt amaaaazing. When I first arrived it was just heart shaped but over time the pops melted and made a big gooey puddle. I think the artist's name was Julia Chiang...











I also finally got chance to go to the Twiggy exhibition at the national portrait gallery. The mini-exhibition is kind of a visual timeline of Twiggy's career, with commentary from Twiggy throughout. I really liked it, but then I really like Twiggy so I'm pretty biased...









There were a lot more pictures but those were my favourites. Gotta love the old school Twiggy.

Sadly I missed out on sampling the skull shaped Krispy Kremes before Halloween was over and had to plump for the spiderweb one instead. Maybe they were just American? False advertisement!



In non food related news I also went to a Vivienne Westwood sample sale. Due to the fact that it was held at her Battersea studio and I live at the other end of London it was a traumatic journey to get there only to discover this massive crowd.



Okay so you can't actually see the crowd, but it was dark and my camera freaks out under low lighting. Let's just say it was BIG. As I didn't have three hours spare to brave the queue in lingering hope that the bargain hungry crowds would overlook something perfect yet cheap, I had to leave and hope that someday I can be just like Pamela and get all the free Viv I want. Minus being Pam.

So today began with a clear mission: sample sales!


First we stopped off at the 'Best of London' designer sale, which happened to take us to a large ambiguous builiding with a massive door and no background music.
There was clothing by Johnathon Saunders, House of Holland, Bex Rox, David David, Erdem, Felder Felder, Poltock and Walsh, Anna Vince, Richard Nicholl and Todd Lynch.
Poltock and Walsh were definately my favourite, and I fell in love with their summer 08 collection and its pastel ruffles which reminded me of macaroons. Yum!

A swift exit and a near collision with Steve Jones from T4 took us across town to Chelsea, which had the most elaborate Pizza Express I had ever seen in my 18 year old life.

After getting lost down a random street and recieving so many 'mini-punches' my arm felt like it was about to drop off we got our game together and found the second sample sale. We climbed a flight of stairs and came to a metal door which was painted terquoise and looked as if it could be holding bags with dollar signs on them and gold bars instead of sample clothes. We buzzed expecting at least a small level of interrogation, but were allowed straight in and lo and behold the 'Rainbow Wave' sample sale!! Unfortunately it looked like the best of the female's stuff had gone by this point, and the Alexander McQueen £10 skirts were nowhere to be seen (boo!). Inside I found dresses covered in pearls, and an array of droopy dresses in a rainbow of colours. Sadly they were outside my price range (£900 +!) but were still very pretty.



Due to a delay in trains on the way back home we were stuck in Waterloo. So what else is a girl to do but get some krispy kreme in on the situation?! So imagine my amazement when I saw these at the stand...
